Women's Economic Empowerment Millions of women are forced into low paying, low productivity, copycat micro-businesses (such as street vending) due to a lack of education and employment opportunities in the formal job market. And, in the absence of more favorable business opportunities or the capital to pursue them, these women are trapped in work that offers no financial security, little growth potential, no health care benefits and pays less than $2 per day.
