The Power of A Victory Garden

After Cyclone Freddy’s devastating floods and landslides in 2023, many families lost their homes and livelihoods. Among them was Amos Dalama and his family, who narrowly escaped the destruction of their village. Though they survived, Amos no longer has land to grow maize and struggles to find any work to support his family.
In November, F2F held a Victory Garden workshop in Dozy Village, where families like the Dalamas are rebuilding their lives. Since then, F2F has conducted follow-up visits to support these efforts. By the end of January, more than 60% of families in Dozy Village had started their own gardens, with many already harvesting regularly.
Amos is determined to learn as much as he can about gardening so he can ensure his family receives proper food and nutrition. With the community’s resilience and support, there’s hope for a brighter future ahead.
